The company was incorporated by lumbering interests in 1917 and built 13 miles of rail line from Glenwood to Wilkesboro, which connected logging areas with existing United Railways trackage. The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
